2013 Alberta floods

On June 20, 2013, the 13,000 residents of High River, Alberta were evacuated as result of the sudden flooding of the Highwood River. In the following days similar flooding ravaged much of southern Alberta, including communities in Calgary.

Province-wide, over 100,000 people were displaced and damages were estimated to be in the billions of dollars. Five people died as a result of the floods.
